Tetris
Stack falling blocks, clear lines, and score points!
What is Tetris?
Tetris is the classic puzzle game where you arrange falling tetrominoes — seven distinct geometric shapes — to clear horizontal lines. Each line you complete disappears and rewards points; let the stack reach the top of the playing field and the game ends. It's easy to learn, endlessly replayable, and tests reflexes alongside spatial planning.
Modern Features
- Hard drop: Slam the current piece straight to the bottom with Space — and earn 2 bonus points per cell dropped.
- Soft drop scoring: Holding Down or S earns 1 point per cell as you accelerate the piece downward.
- Ghost piece: A faint outline shows exactly where the falling piece will land — no more guessing.
- Hold: Press C or Shift to stash the current piece and swap it back later. One swap per turn.
- Next preview: See the upcoming piece so you can plan two moves ahead.
- Wall kicks: Rotations near walls automatically nudge the piece into a valid spot when possible.
How to Play
- Start the game with the Start button.
- Move pieces with arrow keys or WASD.
- Rotate with Up arrow or W. The game tries small wall kicks if the rotation would clip.
- Soft drop with Down or S — adds 1 point per cell.
- Hard drop with Space — instant lock, 2 points per cell.
- Hold a piece with C or Shift — useful when you need to save an I-piece for a Tetris.
- Clear lines by filling complete rows. Four at once = a Tetris (1200 × level points).

Tips for High Scores
Use the ghost. Don't guess where the piece will land — line up exactly where you want it before letting go.
Save your I-piece. Hold (C / Shift) the long I-piece until you have a 4-line well ready. A single Tetris is worth 30× more than four singles.
Hard drop only when committed. Once you press Space the piece locks instantly — no rotating after.
Plan two moves ahead. The Next panel tells you what's coming. Adjust placement of the current piece accordingly.
Build flat. Tall, jagged stacks limit your options; aim for a smooth surface broken only by your Tetris well.
